Engage with C-DICE at the ECR Net Zero Conference

The ECR Net Zero Conference, being hosted in February 2024 at the Birmingham Conference and Events Centre is bringing together early career researchers (ECRs) from across the net zero community. The conference aims to provide an opportunity for key research organisations and ECRs to meet and network with peers from different research communities within the wider net zero research community, and build a collaborative, multidisciplinary community.

C-DICE is delighted to be co-hosting the conference, and will be providing opportunities for ECRs to engage with us through two different events that are part of the conference proceedings:

Business Speed Networking

On 28 February (9:30-11:00) C-DICE will host a Business Speed Networking event with postdocs and PhD students, to spark ideas for funded collaborations to drive forward the Net Zero agenda. We will discuss funding that can be accessed to undertake the collaborations via a C-DICE Networking Grant.

During the speed networking and next steps session, doctoral and post-doctoral researchers will be encouraged to co-create a draft proposal with input from the business they are interested in collaborating with. After the event, business representatives will receive a copy of the draft proposal obtained for their business to determine which projects they would like to take forward. The C-DICE team will then organise 1:1 meetings and suggest avenues for funding.

Why you have to embed equity, diversity, and inclusion practices in your research and how to go about it

During this interactive plenary session of the ECR Net Zero conference, C-DICE Skills Manager Lennie Foster will explore why the ability to embed equitable, diverse, and inclusive practices into their research is a crucial skill for early career researchers to acquire. This session will provide guidance and insights into how they can start to embed principles of EDI into their research understand the importance of considering EDI practices in research design.

There are just a handful of spaces left for the ECR Net Zero Conference on 27-28 February, Bookings have been extended so don’t miss the opportunity to broaden your understanding of, and network with, the wider net zero community.
