C-DICE and UKCRIC ‘All Hands’ event

Tues 13th April 13:00 to 16:00
The aim of this ‘All Hands’ event was to introduce academics, post-docs and research managers in the UKCRIC partnership to the C-DICE programme.
We invited academics and postdocs from UKCRIC universities to attend in order to introduce them to C-DICE and gain their thoughts and ideas about how the postdoctoral programme should run in future.
The aims of the session were to:
Provide details about the benefits of working with C-DICE
Help C-DICE to develop an operational framework for future activities
Find out about synergies between UKCRIC and the Energy Research Accelerator (ERA)
The presentations included:
- An welcome to the session from Professor Andy Dainty, Loughborough University
- An overview of UKCRIC from Professor Willilam Powrie, University of Southampton
- An introduction to the Energy Research Accelerator from Professor Martin Freer, Director of ERA, University of Birmingham
- An introduction to C-DICE from Dr Kathryn North, C-DICE Director and Professor Sergio Cavalaro, Loughborough University
Delegates also broke out into World Cafe style workshops on Training, Development and Sandpits, where their discussions focused on areas including:
- Research priority areas
- Training opportunities
- Interface with infrastructure, Cities and Energy
- Barriers to participation
- Impact and Collaboration
- Engagement with postdocs and academics
- Working with industry and other external stakeholders
