Consulting with Confidence: A Toolkit for Researchers

Consulting with Confidence: A Toolkit for Researchers

Join Consulting with Confidence to learn about consultancy, its various forms, and how you can do it.

Tailored specifically for C-DICE researchers, this immersive 1-day workshop will provide a foundation of consultancy knowledge and skills, raising awareness of your potential and expanding your career horizons.

Through practical workshops and insights from expert facilitators and speakers, you will learn the key ingredients of consultancy project delivery excellence and assess how your current skills align, prioritising areas for growth. Through four interconnected themes, Code-Switch will provide researchers with the tools and confidence to maximise their impact in academia and consultancy:

  • Researching with Industry through Consultancy: Understand consultancy, its various forms and the pathways to establishing a successful career as a consultant.
  • Knowledge Exchange and Industry Skills in Academia: Delve into the world of knowledge exchange, maximising research collaborations with industry, and consultancy as a pathway for 2-way learning. We’ll explore techniques for implementing successful knowledge exchange strategies and job opportunities in this field.
  • The Role of Project Management in Consultancy (& Academia): A highly hands-on session to get to grips with key concepts and tools to improve project outcomes. Comparing and contrasting project delivery in consultancy and academia, researchers will be able to apply new tools and skills to any initiative to maximise success.
  • Take the Leap into Consultancy: Explore ways of setting out in consultancy and managing consultancy work alongside your research. We’ll reflect on professional interests and values, gain insights into market exploration, and learn the fundamentals of making yourself visible and attractive to potential clients and collaborators.

This 1-day workshop will take place at the RAD Building, Jubilee Campus at the University of Nottingham. As we do not want cost of travel or caring for others to be a barrier to engagement, C-DICE travel and carer grants are available. Once you have registered via the link below, contact us if you would like to discuss travel or carer grants for this workshop.
