Marking one year on: National Centre for Universities and Business Researcher Mobility Taskforce

Driving more effective intersectoral career mobility for researchers is vital to maintain a world-leading research and innovation (R&I) system in the UK. The National Centre for Universities and Business (NCUB)’s 2023 Researcher Career Mobility Taskforce brought together senior leaders from industry and academia to make ambitious recommendations to create a more interconnected and dynamic research workforce. In a blog, C-DICE welcomed the reports and the call for more conversations and better data gathering to support researchers in the UK; detailing how we are already supporting researchers in taking ownership of their career development and mobility through targeted training and development opportunities for careers in and beyond academia.

In autumn 2024, NCUB has launched a new report, marking one year since the publication of Pathways to Success. It aims to build on the context and case for action for intersectoral mobility presented in 2023, and provide new insights on the state of intersectoral mobility in 2024. C-DICE welcomes the report and is pleased to have been able to contribute a case study on our work to this important topic.

This report continues to demonstrate why boosting researcher mobility and supporting our innovation workforce is critical to economic success and NCUB’s commitment to continuing to develop and champion solutions across this challenge area.
