Overview
POST (Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology) and C-DICE are offering 3-month Fellowships to postdocs at C-DICE universities/partners whose research in cities, infrastructure, energy is related to net zero. There are two (2) funded Fellowships available.
The Fellowship is an opportunity for postdocs to gain real-world experience of the translation and communication of research findings to help inform decision making. Fellows will also be encouraged to engage with C-DICE by making use of the expertise and connections that C-DICE can offer. Fellows will be supported by C-DICE staff in creating a ‘policy showcase’ based on their experience/findings. The Fellowship can be carried out full-time for three months or part-time over a longer period.

About the scheme
Fellowships offer great opportunities to gain an insider’s view of how Parliament works. During the three month Fellowship, successful candidates hone their ability to communicate scientific issues to a wider audience, by working with the Energy Security and Net Zero (ESNZ) Select Committee. POST Fellows also work closely with people across the UK Parliament and get to see how POST, other select committees, all party parliamentary groups and libraries work.
Fellowships will start in January or April 2024, subject to final agreement between the applicant, ESNZ, POST, and the applicant’s supervisor and university. Fellowships are also conditional to security clearance.
Who is eligible?
The POST-C-DICE Fellowship is open to any postdoc working in an cities, infrastructure, energy, or net zero topic at a C-DICE university or partner. This fellowship is not intended for participants who are permanent teaching staff /lecturers.
How to apply

Applicants should submit:
- A completed Application Form (you will need to be a registered member of InkPath to access this application form, here’s how to register for Inkpath).
- An approval form, which has been completed by your Postdoctoral Supervisor and Head of Department.
- A two-page briefing on a topic that you think would be of current interest to Parliamentarians. The briefing should be completed using the briefing template and should not contain your name or any other identifying details. We want you to use the briefing template and ensure your work is not identifiable to make the process as fair and unbiased as possible. Applications will undergo an initial sift based on the two-page briefing.
Applications need to be completed and supporting documents submitted by 23:59 on Wednesday 13 September 2023. Late applications will not be accepted. A panel consisting of C-DICE, ESNZ and POST personnel will assess the applications. Interviews will be held on week commencing 2 October 2023.

Funding
The successful applicant will receive an amount equivalent to their existing salary to cover their living costs while undertaking the three-month Fellowship. Computing, email, and other facilities necessary for the project will be supplied by POST.
As part of the conditions of the Fellowship, POST Fellows will be expected to provide a short final report to C-DICE, subject to approval from POST. They will also be expected to create and deliver a “policy showcase” event for C-DICE. This can be in-person or online, and can be part of your POST Fellowship work, or delivered afterwards. You will have the support of the C-DICE team to create and deliver this activity (by end of 2024).
