Two New C-DICE Research Sandpits Announced – Up To £30k In Funding Available!

C-DICE is hosting two new research sandpits for postdoctoral researchers to engage with interdisciplinary research in two distinct areas that contribute to the net zero agenda. Research sandpits are an opportunity for postdoctoral researchers to learn how to create a high quality research proposal with external feedback, generating collaborative research ideas that can be further developed via seedcorn funding – awards of up to £30K are available to continue research for the best proposals developed during each sandpit.

The first of these sandpits, starting 18 January 2024, is being hosted in partnership with Rolls Royce SMR to unlock possible social, environmental and economic benefits of Small Modular Reactors and the potential to further develop net zero technologies. The second research sandpit is focused on achieving net zero in the UK water industry and sessions start from 25 January 2024. Given the challenging circumstances and constraints faced by the industry, this sandpit is looking for researchers with the ideas and vision to develop solutions, both small and large, to support the water and sewage industry in becoming more sustainable and resilient, with positive outcomes for the environment.  

Postdocs from various research backgrounds are encouraged to apply, and expertise in the research topic area is not a prerequisite. The deadlines for applications are 11 January and 18 January for the two sandpits.
